Aubrey Franks of Manchester, Magic Lantern

A good, late 19th Century mahogany and brass magic lantern manufactured by Aubrey Franks of Manchester.  Franks was an optician, camera and scientific instrument maker operating from premises in the City's Deansgate area until 1897.  This particular lantern survives in fine condition and is of relatively large proportions, measuring 67cm long (excluding the rear curtain) and standing 40cm high. The lens cover is engraved A Franks, Manchester.  There is a rear slot for a lime light burner (absent). The lantern is fitted with an excellent quality mechanical slide changer.
