henry park ‘victoria’ half plate camera

A fine, late Victorian mahogany and brass folding British half plate field camera by Henry Park of London. Henry Park established his business in 1883, after having served time with two of the country's finest camera makers - seven years under Patrick Meagher and a further eight with George Hare. His Orchard Buildings works were used from 1883 until 1890, after which he moved to larger premises up the road. This particular camera, believed to be Park's 'Victoria' model, survives in really nice condition with good closely-grained woodwork, excellent bellows and lens. To the top, an Ivorine maker's plate bears the inscription "Patent 14262, H Park, Patentee and Manufacturer, 1 Orchard Buildings, Acton Street, Kingsland Road, London". The camera is fitted with an Aldis Uno Anastigmat No 2 Lens. The camera measures 40cm at maximum extension, and is 25cm high. NOT FOR SALE
