Lancaster imperial instantograph

J Lancaster & Sons of Birmingham's 'Imperial' Instantograph folding half plate field camera.  This model was in production between 1894 and 1902 and was designed with 'great strength, portability and lightness' for use in the field.  It came with 'quickly folding and double swing back, long double-extension bellows, rising, falling and cross-swing front'.  This particular example retains both of its original maker's Ivorine plaques, its original leather bellows and a few accessories including a tripod, one double dark slide, a box of exposed plates and a focusing hood.
