PERKEN & SonS Lantern
A tinplate and brass magic lantern by Perken and Sons of London. The company's 'Optimus' trade name was first registered in 1885. The lens is marked 'Optimus' and the lamp housing bears a brass plate embossed 'Perken, Son & Co, OPTIMUS, London'. A further plate to the internal two-wick burner says 'Patent Refulgent Lamp for MAGIC LANTERNS, No 1957'. Lantern approximately 49cm long x 32cm high (19" x 13"), excluding plinth. NOT FOR SALE
