ralph cuthbert (retailer) Magic Lantern

 

An antique mahogany and brass magic lantern with leather bellows. Ivorine retailer’s plaque to the front for Ralph Cuthbert, Photo Chemist of Huddersfield. Ralph Cuthert (1845-191`7) founded the business in 1866 and ran it from premises at 27 Westgate in the town. His business was described as being "Chemists and druggists, manufacturers of mineral water, importers and dealers in chemical, photographic and scientific apparatus. Specialities: dispensing, drugs, surgical instruments, chemicals, photographic chemicals, scientific apparatus and mineral waters." The lantern survives in fine condition and at maximum extension measures 74cm long x 43 high. NOT FOR SALE
