A superb Mark 4 Ejection Seat by Martin Baker, complete with harness assembly and parachute.  The company introduced the MK4 in the 1950s, with this one being labelled as a Type 4BSC Mark 2 and dated December 1966.  This model was developed as an alternative lightweight version of other ejection seats in the Martin Baker range and specifically for use on smaller fighter jets, notably the English Electric Lightning (pictured).  Don't be fooled though - despite its aluminium construction and being touted as being small and lightweight, this is a heavily-engineered piece of kit that still weighs in at a hefty 48kg and stands 123cm high.  This particular example is presented in ex-service condition with numerous maker's plates providing a wonderful sense of history. It is an ideal candidate for conversion to a gaming chair (upholstered and highly polished examples look fabulous and sell for astonishing amounts of money - for inspiration see Intrepid Design's website!) or would make a great display and conversation piece as it stands. 

Condition: The seat survives in very sound, ex-service condition with numerous scuffs, scratches and paint losses consistent with age and use. It has been properly decommissioned, including the removal of all explosives. Most of the original makers plaques are still present. The parachute has not been inspected but appears not to have been deployed. The seat will require a purpose-built stand fabricating, whether for display or re-use.
