Pathé Webo M Reflex Professional 16mm Cine Camera, circa 1950

£435.00

A professional quality Pathe Webo 'M' Reflex 16mm cine camera dating to the 1950s, complete with Berthiot Cinor f2.4 17.5-70 zoom lens. This was a sophisticated piece of equipment for its day, beautifully engineered and incredibly robust - the manufacturers claimed it was 'virtually indestructible', being made from the 'same metal as used in jet plane undercarriages'. It offered reflex 'through the lens' framing and focusing, a variable shutter with range of speeds from 8 to 80 frames per second, backwind facility for multiple exposures, single frame option, a three lens turret and powerful mechanical motor.

Condition: This particular example, serial number 14853, survives in beautiful condition. The motor is fully operational. The frame rate adjustment works correctly, though has not been checked for accuracy. The single frame facility functions correctly. The backwind facility operates correctly. The lever for closing the reflex lens (to prevent fogging) is operational. The lens optics are generally clear with a few cleaning marks, a little light haze and a couple of small/localised spots of fungus. I haven't tried cleaning it. The iris is operational, as is the zoom, the latter a little stiff, likely through lack of use. An expensive item in its day, but due to its 75+ years of age, it is sold as seen and without warranty.
