Superb Collection of Soldiers' miniature bibles, World War 1 etc

A fascinating collection of British soldier's pocket bibles including examples from both World Wars. The collection comprises:

  • A World War 1 era 1916 'Active Service' Testament, published by the Naval and Military Bible Society of London with inscription by Field Marshall (Lord) Roberts to the front, 10cm x 7cm, 428 pages

  • A World War 2 era 1942 New Testament, published by the British and Foreign Bible Society of London with dedication by His Majesty King George VI, 12cm x 8cm, 384 pages

  • 'So Fight I, A Soldier's Daily Thoughts' with a hand-written inscription "To Emily, Fight the Good Fight of Faith" dated 1915 to the front. 12cm x 8cm, 36 pages

  • A World War 1 era copy of the 'The Soldiers Bible', with frontispiece 'The Soldier's Prayer, published by Horace Hart, Printer to the University of Oxford. 13cm x 9cm, 1017 pages

  • A late Victorian pocket bible attributed to Joseph Scadden of Stratford sub Castle village in Salisbury (possibly Private Joseph James Scaddon, who died in action 21st March 1918.

Also included, and from the same source, is a small pocket crucifix and a miniature 'Midget Series' English-German dictionary.

Condition: All in good condition with minor age-related wear including some disolouration, foxing and edge wear. Bindings good. Crucifix good with some tarnishing, commensurate with age
