Bruguiere No 1 Stereoscope with four boxes of slides Paris etc, French, 1940s
History in three dimensions! This George Bruguiere No 1 handheld stereoscope was made in France in the 1940s. Though of moderately simple construction - of thick cardboard with a leather-effect coating - its glass lenses are of good quality and deliver a quite astonishing three dimensional effect. This example comes complete with four boxes of stereoviews printed onto film, 12 slides in each box, the boxes bearing the titles Paris, Paris La Nuit, Versailles and Nice a Grenobles. The collection is housed within its original cardboard box.
Viewer 11cm x 5cm x 18cm (slide carrier extended), the slides measure 43mm x 105mm.
Condition: Viewer and slides all in very good condition. All slides housed within their original boxes which show light wear. Viewer with light edge wear. Original diffuser present. Lens optics excellent, free from cracks, chips, haze and fungus. Cardboard box with light wear and taped reinforcement.
