
Coronet Midget Sub Miniature Camera, 1930s
A 1930s vintage Art Deco style sub-miniature pocket box camera by The Coronet Camera Company of Birmingham. This is the company's 'Midget' camera that was launched in 1935 and touted at the time as being 'the world's smallest camera'. It is of Bakelite construction with an engraved polished metal face plate and a fixed focal Taylor Hobson point lens. It used 16mm film and was capable of taking only 6 images. 6cm (approx 2½") high, 56g (2 ounces) in weight.
Condition: Bakelite largely in good order, minor loss to one inside corner of the back cover (see last images), otherwise free from chips, cracks etc. Light tarnishing to metal fascia and surface rust to the sliding shutter lock. Optics clear. Shutter functioning but otherwise untested.
