Decca 130 'The Salon' Gramophone, 1930s, Super Condition

£200.00

One of two nice old gramophones that I presently have available, this being Decca's 130 'The Salon' gramophone dating to the 1930s - an instrument that was well known for its great sound and strong Garrard 12b motor. This model comes complete with high quality nickel-plated motor board, desirable Meltrope soundbox, an auto-start mechanism, auto-brake, speed control and integral storage for needles. Click here to see it playing 'Goodnight Sweetheart' performed by Jack Gordon, a popular singer of the 1930s dance band era.

43cm x 30cm x 20cm (lid closed). Note that this gramophone is suitable only for playing shellac records, at 78rpm, and is not for later vinyl records.

Condition: The chrome components are all in excellent condition with only minor marks. All controls are functioning correctly. The soundbox is in good order. The turntable is good, with original felt and some tarnishing to the nickel. The black Rexine-covered case is in good condition, with minor losses and an old taped repair to one edge. The front catches and corner reinforcement show the normal tarnishing. The carrying handle is present, with some losses to the original stitching and leather. The record is included in the sale and has normal wear consistent with age and use. It comes with a nice period sleeve. As shown in the video clip, the gramophone plays well and sounds fabulous. However, because of its age it is sold as seen and without warranty.
